The Newmarket Food Pantry hosted their 3rd Annual Curling Bonspiel on March 23rd at the York Curling Club. More than 100 people attended a day filled with fun and some friendly competition on the ice with the goal to raise as much money as possible.

Curlers played three games throughout the day, and in between games, had the opportunity to meet new people, and enjoy a pizza lunch provided by Zucca’s Pizzeria. Numerous raffle prizes were donated, including a John Tavares Jersey, gift certificates to local restaurants, stores and spa. In addition to the raffle prizes, Market Brewing Company donated Beer for a Year – at a value of $750. MP Kyle Peterson put his persuasive skills to work and hosted a live auction for the beer. After some fast and furious bidding the winning bid was $750!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the event, to our sponsors, prize donors and volunteers who made the day a great success – we raised over $11,000 for the Newmarket Food Pantry!
