Volunteer

The Newmarket Food Pantry is staffed almost entirely by volunteers from our community and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Volunteers are essential to the success of the Newmarket Food Pantry, and each year hundreds of people volunteer thousands of hours collecting and sorting food donations, stocking shelves, serving our clients, and being advocates for the food pantry in our community. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all our volunteers who dedicate their time to helping others.

Please complete the form below if you are interested in volunteering at the Newmarket Food Pantry.

However you choose to support the Newmarket Food Pantry, please know that it is very much appreciated.

Bingo World Gaming

If you’re looking for a fun way to support and make a difference in your local community, we have volunteer positions available on Wednesday evenings, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bingo World and Gaming in Newmarket.  The role involves straightforward tasks such as disposing of paper and returning empty food trays—no money handling is required. A brief 30-minute training session will get you started, followed by a shift shadowing a qualified volunteer.

This is a weekly 2-hour commitment and you must be over 18+ years of age.

Community Fridge – Cleaning and Maintenance and Delivery

At the heart of the Community Fridge beats the spirit of community, and we invite our neighbours to join our volunteer team, strengthening our ability to support those who rely on the fridge. We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with daily fridge check-ins, and the best part is, it only takes 15 minutes to complete all the tasks! You have the flexibility to pick your shifts, and you can decide when to perform the tasks within the allotted time frame.

The tasks for the Cleaning and Maintenance role are:

  • Tidying and disinfecting (supplies provided).
  • Removing non-compliant donations or expired items.
  • Checking the fridge’s temperature.
  • Keeping our Coordinator informed via text or email.

Your 15 minutes directly contribute to the success of the fridge while ensuring the safety of all. This opportunity is ideal for students looking for a flexible way to earn their community hours.

Delivery Driver position:

We currently need a driver to pick up food donations and stock the Community Fridge on Fridays and Mondays at 10:15 am.  The entire shift is only 1.5 hours.

Help make a difference in our community with these straightforward and impactful opportunities!
