Join us for our 2022 Move4Food Adventure Challenge!

Our 2nd annual Move4Food Adventure has begun and our fundraising goal for this event is $15 000

ABOUT THIS YEAR’S EVENT:

From May 29th to June 19th we are inviting you to register for our 2nd annual Move4Food Adventure Challenge, presented by Optimal Health, in support of the Newmarket Food Pantry.

This year’s theme is “FILL A FRIDGE”

The Newmarket Food Pantry has recently added a community kitchen and community fridge to our services to be better able to serve our clients and our community. All proceeds raised in the 2022 Adventure Challenge will go towards keeping our community fridge stocked and full for greater flexibility and choice for our clients.

You choose when, where, and how you want to “adventure”, walk- run-bike-kayak-spin etc… we don’t ask how!

Register for free as a team or individual, pledge an amount (either by kilometre or flat fee), commit to moving each day for the duration of the event, and get moving.

Once again we will have some great prizes for our top fundraisers!

See below for a link on how to register.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the trails!

If you have any questions, please contact our executive director at abain@newmarketfoodpantry.ca

Move4Food FAQs

The Move4Food Adventure Challenge is a fun event hosted by the Newmarket Food Pantry as a way to continue to support our neighbours in need who are currently facing food insecurity challenges.

It is also a way to show our gratitude and support to local businesses who have been supporting us for the last 35 years, by giving back 10% of the funds raised through the event.

The event runs from May 29th to June 19th and you are in control of how much or little you want to move. Register, fundraise, get moving, and have fun!

Anyone can participate! Register as an individual, a corporate team, a friend’s team, or as a family.

Yes, of course.  You can register up to the very last day (June 19th)

Any support is greatly appreciated.

YES! There are two types of prizes.

1) The top 3 teams and top 3 individuals who fundraise the money will win prizes.

2) 10% of the funds raised from individuals and teams will be donated back to local businesses who are also participating in this event, in the form of gift cards.  A draw will be held for ALL participants to win ALL of these gift cards.

All group and Individual teams raise $50 000 total for this event.  $5000 worth of gift cards (10%) will then be purchased in $50 values (denominations may vary depending on total money raised and total number of event participants) from local businesses who are also participating in this event. Each participant will have an equal chance to win the 100 gift cards up for grabs ($50 x 100= $5000)

The short answer is: Anyway you want.

This adventure challenge is meant to be a fun way for you to get active over the course of 21 days with the hope that you will continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

You choose when to be active, and how to be active. There may be a day where you walk for 5 minutes, and there may be a day where you cycle for two hours.

Walk, Run, Spin, Paddle, Cycle, Skate!  We don’t ask how, just move!

No, there is no fundraising minimum.  We do suggest you set a target amount and try to achieve that goal.

Example: I want to raise $500 for the Newmarket Food Pantry and Local Businesses who have been hit the hardest by the pandemic.  I will pledge $100 myself and ask my network of friends, family and colleagues to make up the other $400 to achieve my target goal.

OR:

I am going to pledge $1 for every kilometre I move during the 21-day challenge.  I am challenging myself to do 10km a day for a total of 210km, or $210. (you can still ask friends and family to pledge you for this method)

All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt. Online donations receive an immediate receipt via e-mail. Please be sure to print it off for your records. Offline donations (cash or cheque) will get a tax receipt mailed to them.
