What Is A Community Kitchen (C.E.R.E.A.L Centre)?

Food not only nourishes our bodies but also serves as a catalyst for community building, strengthening our connections with each other and the world around us.

Within the heart of our community lies a collaborative space known as the Newmarket Food Pantry’s C.E.R.E.A.L (Community Empowerment-Resource-Education-Awareness-Learning) Centre. Here, people come together to empower and educate our community about the importance of sound nutrition and how to adopt a healthy lifestyle, as well as opportunities for team volunteering where your organization can help make an impact in our community.

Who Can Use The C.E.R.E.A.L Centre?

Anyone and everyone!  We encourage clients and other community members to become teachers and leaders and share their knowledge about healthy cooking with each other.  These opportunities to share knowledge and experience build strong community bonds while cultivating a supportive environment for growth and learning.

What Are The Programs We Offer?

Our C.E.R.E.A.L Centre programs prioritize nourishing our neighbours through community connection and building. Our current initiatives include:
  • Community Connections: Collaborating with local businesses and organizations to provide healthy food options for our clients and foster community togetherness. This initiative offers team volunteering opportunities that directly and positively impact our community.
  • Educational Workshops: Here at the Newmarket Food Pantry, we believe in the power of our community’s talents and skills. If you have skills you feel could help others establish healthy habits and lifestyle changes, we welcome collaborations to offer workshops aimed at empowering our community members in need.
  • Kitchen Rentals: Our fully licensed and certified kitchen, meets public health standards, and is available for rent to food businesses seeking a professional space fully equipped for cooking and baking.
